SYSTEM
Outage Analyzer is a multi-tier, J2EE-based web application that incorporates the web browser as the application client, requiring no client-side installation. This architecture ensures portability across diverse environments, provides an open interface, and leverages and extends existing assets.
Outage Analyzer is a commercial availability tool. The system focuses on the relationship between outages and margin. By examining the offer curves and/or cost curves, unit constraints and unit economics against the hourly LMP relevant to each specific unit, it shows the true economic impact of outages by calculating the lost opportunity dollars and helps narrow the focus on being available to generate when profit potential is high. It also calculates EFORp metrics for the PJM ISO.
Benefits
Proven, secure, enterprise-level system that can handle up to several hundred users.
Centralized, web-based system allows users distributed over wide geographic locations to utilize one system for all their requirements, from data collection to analysis, and reporting. Role-based security allows for simple administration.
Multi-ISO capability allows users to perform commercial availability across various markets.
The system shows the true economic impact of each outage and helps management to focus effort on being available to generate when profit potential is high. Lost opportunity revenue and margin are calculated per event, per hour.
What-If Analysis: This functionality allows users to plan outages under certain market conditions and evaluate results for the event and also change the characteristic of the past events and the implication of the changes in performance metrics such as EFORp and EFORd.
EFORp Analyzer: Users calculate both historical and future EFORp values for financial P&L and estimating liabilities.
Ease of customization: We recognize that each client’s processes, data flows, and systems are unique. Outage Analyzer is a flexible, customizable system that will ensure that the system fits your current processes and not the other way around. Corporations do not often realize or compute the switching costs from changing processes to meet the requirements of inflexible software.
Features
Allows to create Lost Opportunity Revenue, Lost Opportunity Margin, Lost Capacity Value, Traditional Rates and Factors for outage events.
What-If-Analysis: Users are able to create different scenarios for both past and future and evaluate the results for those created scenarios. Users can execute what-if analysis by adding events, modifying market operations date in the system and re-calculating various financial and performance metrics.
Forward Looking Analyzer: Allows users to apply forecasted LMP and market data for forward looking analysis in calculating performance metrics and planning in the future.
EFORp Analyzer: Calculates both historical and future EFORp numbers.
Performance reports: Generates various performance and financial metric reports.
ISO Market Integration: Connects to various markets to gather LMP, bid, schedule and cost data.
